Electrical impulses activate motor neurons directly, bypassing the brain and spinal cord. This causes involuntary muscle contractions that engage both slow- and fast-twitch fibers simultaneously, unlike traditional training, which recruits them in sequence (Henneman’s Size Principle). The stimulation preferentially targets fast-twitch fibers (Type II), essential for strength and power development. When paired with resistance training, this method has been shown to increase muscle mass, improve neuromuscular coordination, and reduce fatigue.
